Age of Accountability
There is a time when one becomes accountable to God’s Will - Neh. 8:1-3; Rom. 7:9; Js. 4:17.
Angels
Seeing angels is not proof one is saved - Acts 10:1-3; 11:11-14; 2 Cor. 11:13-14.
Anti-Christ
The term “antichrist” refers to a type of person, not one individual - 1 Jn. 2:22, 4:3.
There were many antichrists in the 1st century - 1 Jn. 2:18.
Apostles
If there are apostles today (which there are not), they must be able to prove such by doing genuine miracles - 2 Cor. 12:12.
Were guided by the Holy Ghost into all truth - Jn. 14:26; 16:13.
Wrote down what they received - 1 Cor. 14:37.
Astrology
Astrology is idolatry - Dt. 4:14-19.
Idolaters do not please and and are not rewarded - 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Rev. 21:8.
Is clearly condemned in scripture - Dt. 17:2-5; Isa. 47:12-14.
Is a fruitless practice - Dan. 2:27-28.
Baby-Dedication Services
The examples the innovators point to - 1 Sam. 1:27-28 & Lk. 2:22 both are passages which are in the setting of the Old Testament.
1 Sam. 1:27-28 & Lk. 2:22 do not authorize local churches to hold baby-dedication services any more than they authorize local churches to engage in animal sacrifice - 1 Sam. 1:24-25; Lk. 2:24.
There is not a command, approved example, or even a necessary conclusion authorizing a local church to have a baby-dedication service - Col. 3:17; 1 Cor. 4:6.
Baptism
You must be baptized properly to be saved - Mk. 16:16; 1 Pet. 3:20-21.
Proper baptism is immersion in water for alien sinners who can understand the truth - Rom. 6:1-5; Acts 10:47; Col. 2:11-12.
One must be baptized to access the grace of God - 2 Tim. 2:1; Rom. 6:3; Gal. 3:27.
Proper baptism is not an option. It is a command to be obeyed - Acts 10:48.
Is for the remission of sins - Acts 2:38.
Washes away one’s sins - Acts 22:16.
Benevolence
Non-Christian widows may be rendered benevolence by individuals (Js. 1:26-27), but local churches can only assist certain Christian widows - 1 Tim. 5:3-16.
The good in Gal. 6:10, contextually, refers to restoring the erring back to God - Gal. 6:1.
Even if Gal. 6:10 were discussing benevolence, all that the passage would authorize is individual responsibility - Gal. 6:1-8.
That Gal. 6:10 is discussing individual responsibility may be seen by noting that Paul was not a member of any local churches in Galatia, yet he says “we” & “us” - Gal. 6:9-10.
If local churches can do anything Jesus did (as is asserted regarding feeding non-christians) then they can take the Lord’s Supper on another day than Sunday - Mt. 26:17-39.
If local churches can do anything Jesus did (as is asserted regarding feeding non-christians) then they can remove sins at their will - Mt. 9:6.
The word used to describe “nation” in Acts 24:17 can, and does at times, refer to Christians only - 1 Pet. 2:9.
Bible Authority
We must have New Testament authority for all that we do and say - Col. 3:17; Js. 2:12.
Silence does not authorize something to be done - 2 Sam. 7:1-7; Heb. 7:14.
Anyone who preaches another gospel other than what was received in the 1st century has God’s condemnation upon them - Gal. 1:6-9.
We are not to think above that which is written - 1 Cor. 4:6.
We are not to add to or take away from God’s Word - Deut. 4:1-2; 12:32; Prv. 30:6; Rev. 22:18-19.
There is a form/pattern of sound words both local churches and individuals must follow if they are to please God - 2 Tim. 1:13.

The traditions of men do not equate to God’s will - Mk. 7:8-9.
Emotions are not a safe standard of authority - Prv. 14:12; 30:14.
Human reasoning (what man thinks is right) is not a safe standard of authority - Isa. 55:8-9; Prv. 28:26; Acts 26:9-15.
Sincerity and zeal (by themselves) are not enough to save anyone - Rom. 10:1-2; Isa. 5:13; Hos. 4:6; Mt. 7:21-23.
The dreams of so-called dreamers are not a safe standard of authority - Jer. 23:25-28.
Preachers, without biblical truth, authorize nothing - Acts 17:10-11.
“But I’m a good person”
Being a “good person” is not enough to get one to heaven - Acts 10:1-6; 11:13-14.
A good man is the man who does what God tells him to do - Ps. 37:23.
Calvinism
Total Hereditary Depravity (men are born in sin) is a false doctrine - Ecc. 7:29; Ez. 28:15; Rom. 9:11; Js. 1:14-15; 4:17.
Unconditional Election is a false doctrine - Acts 10:34-35; 1 Pet. 1:17.
Limited Atonement is a false doctrine - Jn. 10:7-10; Heb. 2:9.
Irresistible Grace is a false doctrine - Deut. 30:15-20; Josh. 24:15; Jn. 3:16; Acts 7:51.
Perseverance of the Saints (Once-Saved - Always Saved) is a false doctrine - Heb. 6:4-6; 1 Cor. 9:24-27.
Catholicism
All apostles had power to bind and loose what had been bound and loosed in heaven, not just Peter - Mt. 18:1, 18.
Why did Paul rebuke Peter if Peter was the 1st Pope (as the Catholics claim)? - Gal. 2:11-14.
Collective (Congregational) Worship
Local churches came together on the 1st day of the week (not the 7th) for worship - Acts 20:7.
Conscious after Death
The rich man Jesus spoke of was conscious after death - Lk. 16:19-31.
God told the King of Babylon that people would be conscious after death - Isa. 14:4-17.
Correction
Those who refuse such err - Prv. 10:17.
He that hates reproof is stupid - Prv. 12:1.
He that refuses such despises his won soul - Prv. 15:32.
Covering
The covering that women are required to have is defined by God as long hair; i.e. hair that hangs down from the head - 1 Cor. 11:13-15.
Death Penalty
Is one of God’s ways for purging the land of sinners - Dt. 7:8-13.
Is authorized of God in the New Testament - Rom. 13:1-4; 1 Pet. 2:13-14.
Demon Possession
The age of literal demon-possession ended in the 1st century - Zech. 13:2.
Discipline in a Local Congregation
Even one who is a babe is a subject of church discipline - 1 Cor. 3:1-2; 5:1-13.
Dreams
Are not how God communicates with man today - 1 Cor. 13:8-10; 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
Appealing to such are often a ploy of false teachers - Jer. 23:25-28; 29:8-9.
End Justifies The Means
Not so! - Rom. 3:8; 2 Ch. 16:1-9.
Drunkenness
Forbidden - Eph. 5:18.
Is a damnable work of the flesh - Gal. 5:19-21.
Eating The Lord’s Flesh and Drinking His Blood
Jn. 6:54 is not talking about the Lord’s Supper, but rather consuming God’s Word - Jn. 6:63.
Evil Companionship
Destroys a person - Prv. 13:20.
Those who keep such hate their own souls - Prv. 29:24.
Corrupts a person - 1 Cor. 15:33.
Faith Only
Belief is a work - Jn. 6:28-29.
The only time “faith only” is mentioned in scripture it is condemned - Js. 2:24.
Even demons have the type of faith so many denominationalists speak of - Js. 2:19.
Faith involves works - Heb. 11:30.
If you do not keep God’s commandments, but claim to be a Christian, you are a liar - 1 Jn. 2:3-5.
False Teachers
Following false teachers does not give one a pass with God - Mt. 15:14; 23:15; Isa. 9:16.
The bad guys often look like the good guys - Mt. 7:15; 2 Cor. 11:13-15.
False teachers are to be marked and avoided - Rom. 16:17-18.
You do not have to have ill-motives to be a false teacher - Prv. 21:27.
Free Will
Serving God is a choice, not something a man is made to do - Deut. 30:19; Josh. 24:15; Rev. 22:17.
Gift of the Holy Ghost
The gift of the Holy Ghost is not given while under the water in baptism - Acts 8:14-16; 19:5-6; Eph. 1:13.
The gift of the Holy Ghost cannot be a “literal non-miraculous personal indwelling” - Acts 8:14-16, 20; 10:44-45; 19:5-6.
The gift of the Holy Ghost clearly cannot be salvation as a result of baptism as Cornelius and those in his house had it but were not yet baptized - Acts 10:44-48.
The gift of the Holy Ghost was clearly and contextually connected to the ability to do miracles in the infancy of the church - Acts 2:14-39; 1 Cor. 13:8-10.
The apostles and those in Cornelius’ house received the gift of the Holy Ghost via baptism of the Holy Ghost while others received it via the laying on of an apostle’s hands - Acts 8:14-16, 20.
Grace of God
The grace of God does not give us a license to sin - Tit. 2:11-14; Rom. 6:1-3.
Some in the city of Ephesus were “saved by grace” but this included baptism - Eph. 2:8-9; Acts 19:1-5.
Holy Ghost
The Holy Ghost is Divine - Acts 5:1-4; Lk. 1:68-70; 2 Pet. 1:21.
Holy Ghost Baptism
According to context, the 12 apostles were the only ones baptized with the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost - Acts 1:26-2:1-4.
Homosexuality
Is an abomination to God - Lev. 18:22; Lev. 20:13.
Is an unnatural vile affection - Rom. 1:26.
Those who engage in such will not inherit the kingdom of God unless they repent - 1 Cor. 6:9-10.
Those who engage in such can be forgiven - 1 Cor. 6:11.
Idolatry
Practice of such bars one from heaven - 1 Cor. 6:9-10.
Idolaters burn eternally - Rev. 21:8.
Makes one a spiritual whore - Lev. 17:7.
Is sacrifice to devils - Lev. 17:7.
Does not mix with true religion - Gen. 35:1-4.
Is a cursed practice which is an abomination to God - Dt. 7:25-26.
Christians are to flee from it - 1 Cor. 10:14.

Institutionalism
Care of orphans is an individual Christian’s responsibility, not the local church’s - Js. 1:26-27.

Islam
If Jesus was just a prophet (like the Muslims claim) and He did not resurrect (as Muslims claim) then Jesus would have been a false prophet and thus should not be esteemed by them - Lk. 9:22; Dt. 18:21-22.
Jesus is Divine
Jesus should be honored as deity - Jn. 5:23.
Jesus is referred to as God - Rom. 9:5; Jn. 20:28-29; Heb. 1:8-9.
Judging Another
It is not a sin to judge righteously - Jn. 7:24.
Kingdom of Christ
Jesus “could have” set up an earthly kingdom, but did not - Jn. 6:14-15.
The kingdom is not physical but spiritual - Jn. 18:36; Col. 1:13.
The kingdom was in place in the 1st century - Col. 1:13; Rev. 1:9.
The kingdom and the church are the same thing - Mk. 9:1; Lk. 24:49; Acts 1:1-8; 2:1-5, 41, 47.
Knowing God’s Will Today
The scriptures are all sufficient; supplying what we need for every good work - 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
Land Promise
Fulfilled - Josh. 11:23; 21:43; Neh. 9:8; Ps. 105:42-45; Jer. 11:5.
Was conditional - Dt. 6:10-19; 8:19-20; Dt. 30:15-20; Josh. 23:14-16.
Last Days
The last days are not around the corner as the Premillennialists claim - Acts 2:14-17; Heb. 1:1-2.
The signs of Mt. 24:4-35 were fulfilled in the 1st century - Mt. 24:34.
Law of the Lord vs Law of Moses
There is no difference between the Law of Moses and the Law of the Lord as 7th Day Adventists claim - Lk. 2:21-24.
Lucifer
Is not Satan, but a figurative, descriptive term to refer to the king of Babylon in the long ago - Isa. 14:4-12.
Was a man, not Satan - Isa. 14:4, 16.
“Make-up” Lord’s Supper
Such is not seen in the pattern of sound words - 2 Tim. 1:13.
Local congregations must eat the Lord’s Supper together after waiting for all who can be in the assembly to be there - 1 Cor. 11:33.
Marriage, Divorce, & Remarriage
“Mental Divorce” was not an option for Joseph - Mt. 1:19.
Whoever marries a put away woman is in an unscriptural marriage - Lk. 16:18.
Jesus, while living under the law (Gal 4:4), emphasized truths relative to the New Testament - Lk. 16:16. This must be considered in view of what He preached relative to divorce and remarriage.
Jesus only gave one reason for divorce - Mt. 19:9.
Miracles
The age of the miraculous ended when the New Testament was finally completely revealed and recorded - 1 Cor. 13:8-10; Js. 1:25.
The ability for some other than apostles to do miraculous things was given by the laying on of an apostle’s hands - Acts 8:18.
Missing the Assembly for Work
One must provide for his family, true enough - 1 Tim. 5:8.
However, one must not willfully miss an assembly - Heb. 10:25.
If one puts kingdom business first then they will have the necessities of life - Mt. 6:24-34.
Putting the Kingdom first (Mt. 6:24-34) is the way to make sure your family is provided for (1 Tim. 5:8), not forsaking the assembly for work - Heb. 10:25.
Old Testament is Not in Force Today
The Old Testament has been abolished - Eph. 2:15-16.
Paradise
Paradise and heaven are not the same thing - Mt. 6:9; Jn. 20:17.
Prayer
Must be directed to the Father - Lk. 11:1-2; Mt. 6:6.
Can be hindered - 1 Pet. 3:7, 12; Jn. 9:31; Prv. 28:9.
Are not to use vain repetitions - Mt. 6:7.
Preaching
Preachers must only preach that which may be backed up with scripture - 2 Tim. 4:2; Acts 17:10-11.
Prophecy
Prophecy ended in the first century - Zech. 13:2; 1 Cor. 13:8-10.
The true test of a prophet is if what he says comes to pass - Deut. 18:21-22.
Racism
All people come from one blood - Acts. 17:26.
Reincarnation
Is not in harmony with the scriptures - Heb. 9:27; 1 Pet. 3:19.
Religious Experiences
Do not place someone in the body of the saved or keep you there - Acts. 9:1-5, 18 (22:16); 10:1-16; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Gal. 1:8.
Religious Titles
“Reverend” is a title reserved for God, not man - Ps. 111:1-9.
Romans 14
Rom. 14 cannot be discussing accepting others despite their choices for immorality or false doctrine in view of context - Rom. 13:13-14; 16:17-18.
The only thing that can today fit into Rom. 14 is authorized liberties; i.e. things God approves of, but does not require - Rom. 14:1-2; 1 Tim. 4:3-5.
Saying Nothing When You Know Someone is Sinning
Leads to serious, serious consequences - Ezek. 33:17-18.
Makes one wicked in God’s sight - Ps. 50:16-18.
Is not in accordance with the New Testament pattern - Gal. 2:11-14.
Social Drinking
Social drinking is forbidden - Prv. 23:29-35; 1 Pet. 4:1-3.
Social Gospel
If local churches can do anything Jesus did (as is asserted regarding social activity) then they can take the Lord’s Supper on another day than Sunday - Mt. 26:17-39.

Jesus opposed using food to draw a crowd - Jn. 6:24-26.
“Fellowship” is spiritual sharing, not eating a social meal - 1 Jn. 1:3.

Stealing

Thief on the Cross
How can one prove that the “thief on the cross” (Lk. 23:39-43) had not submitted to John’s baptism? - Mk. 1:4-5.
Even if the “thief on the cross” had not submitted to John’s baptism, Jesus, while upon the earth, had the right to forgive sins as He saw fit - Mt. 9:6.
The terms of pardon for “the thief on the cross” were different from the terms of pardon today - Rom. 10:9-10.
Unity in Diversity
“Unity in Diversity” is sinful - Jn. 17:20-21; 1 Cor. 1:10; Plp. 1:27; 3:16; 2 Jn. 9-11.
Using Plain and Pointed Speech
One is authorized to speak plainly to a “new convert” - Acts 8:18-23.
Women Leading Prayer
Women cannot lead a prayer in a mixed assembly - 1 Tim. 2:8; 1 Cor. 14:34.
Women Preachers
Women cannot teach over a man - 1 Tim. 2:11-12.
